AAP
A tropical low that threatened to turn into a cyclone has brought heavy rain to north Queensland.
The system, which formed in the Gulf of Carpentaria, moved across Cape York overnight and is hovering near Cairns.
A Bureau of Meteorology spokesman said Mission Beach, south of Cairns, has recorded 180mm, while flood warnings remain in place for the Ross, Georgina, Diamantina and Bohle Rivers, along with Eyre Creek.
