Boy, family terrorised in Qld shooting

Police say it's incredibly lucky that a young boy, his mother and grandmother weren't hurt in a drive-by shooting west of Brisbane.

Three shots were fired into part of a Toowoomba home where the trio was sleeping overnight. Police believe it's either a random attack or a case of the wrong house being targeted.

"There's no evidence to suggest that the residents have any connection or any reason for this to occur," Toowoomba police Detective Inspector David Isherwood has told Fairfax media.

"It's either a random incident or shots have been fired possibly into the wrong house. But at this point in time, we can't speculate, really we don't know."

He said it was a miracle no-one was hurt but didn't say how close the bullets came to hitting residents of the home in Ruthven Street, Harlaxton.

The home remains a crime scene and police are hunting for the offender or offenders, who fled in a car.

Neighbour Karllee Robertson said police found ammunition shells behind her car.

"It's crazy. Heaps of bad stuff happens around here," she told the local newspaper, The Chronicle.
