Tourists hit by car on Gold Coast

Two tourists have been hit by a car on the Gold Coast, leaving them with critical injuries.

The two women, aged 40 and 77, were crossing a street in Surfers Paradise when they were hit by the car on Thursday evening.

Both were taken to hospital in critical conditions with what appeared to be head injuries and broken bones.

Police say they are now in stable conditions.
