Tostee avoids more jail for car chase

Alleged murderer Gable Tostee has avoided further punishment over a drunken cross-border police pursuit in July 2014.

Tostee, who has already served six months in a NSW prison after being convicted of engaging in the high speed chase, was convicted but not further punished over charges of drink driving and breaching bail conditions at Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The 28-year-old has been committed to stand trial over the death of Warriena Wright in August 2014 after the New Zealand tourist fell from the balcony of his Surfers Paradise apartment.

Tostee was suspended from driving for 15 months while two unrelated charges of obstruct police and public nuisance were dismissed.

A date for Tostee's murder trial is yet to be set.
