Toddler pulled from Qld pool, resuscitated

An unconscious toddler has been rescued from a Gold Coast pool, prompting a warning to parents to remain "super vigilant" when their kids are around water.

Paramedics were called to a Varsity Lakes home when the 18-month-old girl was spotted under the water just before 9am on Monday.

But the fast actions of a family member meant she was resuscitated after to a brief period of CPR.

Paramedic Jaye Newton said immediate treatment was crucial in potential drowning situations.

"If people don't have any signs of life, there's a very short time frame in which that needs to be corrected," he said.

"If the family member didn't perform some mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, the situation would have been different."

Parents needed to remain "super vigilant" around bodies of water as the state's weather continues to improve and swimming activities become more appealing, he added.

"It just takes a moment for them to fall in water and drown."
