Three killed in 4WD crash with tanker on Queensland highway

Three people inside a four-wheel drive have died after crashing into an empty fuel tanker in near Rockhampton, Queensland last night.

The 4WD reportedly rolled several times, killing the three occupants, whom are believed to be male railway workers on their way to relieve colleagues at a nearby changeover, News Corp reports.

The incident happened just after 7pm at a stretch along the Capricorn Highway notorious for road accidents.

Paramedics said the truck driver did not require medical treatment.

Police have closed the highway in both directions.
