Three badly burnt in Qld meatworks blast

Three people have been badly burnt in an explosion at an Ipswich meatworks.

They suffered serious second and third degree burns to their upper bodies following the explosion in the switchboard room on Saturday morning, Queensland Ambulance Service senior supervisor Adam Florey said.

They were taken to the Royal Brisbane Hospital while two others were taken to Ipswich Hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.

The cause of the explosion hasn't been determined.
