Thieves raid ATM for cash in Brisbane

Thieves raided an ATM at a shopping centre north of Brisbane, ripping off the door and stealing a cash after entering through the centre's roof.

Police say an unknown number of people broke into the Kensington Village complex at Bray Park just after 1am on Thursday.

Police couldn't confirm exactly how the Suncorp Bank machine's door was removed, but sophisticated cutting equipment may have been used to force it open.

"Our forensic people (are) conducting a full examination of the premises and part of that examination includes the roof area," Detective Senior Sergeant Joe Zitny told the Nine Network.

Investigations are continuing.
