Taxi driver punched on Gold Coast

A man and two women have attacked a Gold Coast taxi driver and stolen his cab.

Police say the 34-year-old cabbie was dropping off the trio about 1.40am on Sunday at Surfers Paradise when the male passenger paid the fare and then punched him in the face.

The driver fled the car and the trio drove off in the cab before abandoning further down the road.
