Supermarket workers attacked on Gold Coast

A shoplifter has attacked two supermarket workers who tried to nab him on the Gold Coast.

Police say the women spotted the man stealing something from the Southport supermarket where they worked on Sunday and decided to follow him, even after he pushed one of them on the way out.

The man allegedly attacked both women before police arrived, and one had to go to hospital.

A 33-year-old man is facing charges including attempted armed robbery, assault, obstructing police and stealing.
