Boy 'reminded accused of ex-stepdad'

A teenage boy who stabbed a classmate told a friend before the attack he wanted to kill the boy because he reminded him of his former stepfather.

The boy, who was 14 when he stabbed a fellow year 10 boy in the neck in August 2013, pleaded guilty in the Brisbane Supreme Court on Monday to unlawful wounding.

He pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and not guilty to wounding in an attempt to maim or disfigure.

The court was told the stabbing happened a day after the accused and the victim fought over a jar of marshmallow spread.

The accused allegedly lured the victim to a dark spot behind curtains with the promise the spread was hidden in the cupboards, after it was taken by a teacher who intervened in their fight the day before.

In a recorded police interview played in court, a friend of the accused said he told him just before the stabbing it was probably the last time he would want to talk to him.

"He said he was going to kill X (name taken out to protect identity)," the friend said. "He said it in a grim and determined way.

"He said that X was going to end up like his ex-stepfather, rude and violent towards women, and that he was going to try to put a stop to it."

The court also heard a police search of the accused's room uncovered a list of student names and a tick beside the victim's name.

Earlier, the victim admitted to pushing the accused's shoulder during religion class on the day of the stabbing.

"It's the case that you were bullying him," defence lawyer Rob East said.

The court heard the accused told the complainant during the class to meet him at the school auditorium and he would show where the marshmallow spread was hidden.

Prosecutor Sarah Farnden said the victim was lured to a dark spot behind curtains at the school's auditorium, where the accused stabbed him in the neck.

He said at first he did not know what happened but then he saw blood and went into a state of shock, running onto the stage and yelling: "Get a f***ing teacher, I have been stabbed."

The trial has been adjourned to Tuesday.
