Southeast Queensland hit by hailstorm
AAP
Queensland's southeast has been warned to brace for large hailstones and damaging winds with a thunderstorm working its way to Brisbane this afternoon.
The Bureau of Meteorology says parts of Ipswich, the Scenic Rim and the Brisbane valley have already been hit by high winds and "golf ball-sized" hail.
Bureau forecaster Sean Fitzgerald says the storm will pass through Brisbane later on Tuesday afternoon and eventually reach the coastline, but the winds and hail are expected to deteriorate as it moves east.
