Qld schools closed, workers ordered home

All southeast Queensland schools have been closed, and non-essential public servants ordered to go home, as wild weather from ex-cyclone Debbie lashes the region.

Deputy Premier Jackie Trad says public transport will also be free from 10am, to get people home ahead of the worst of the weather later on Thursday.

She said there was no risk associated with dams from the deluge that's hitting the region.
