Southeast Qld drug ring busted: police

A drug ring accused of trafficking and producing large amounts of cannabis in Queensland's southeast has been busted.

A three-month probe into the alleged syndicate ended with the arrests of two men this week and the seizure of two properties in the Southern Downs worth $2.5 million.

The operation began in August after a large-scale cannabis crop was found at an Emu Vale property, east of Warwick.

Detective Acting Superintendent Mick Dowie says police have dismantled an entrenched cannabis production and trafficking syndicate.

"It will be alleged that this syndicate has been criminally active for many years and has played a major role in producing and trafficking cannabis," he said.

Two men, aged 44 and 52, face drug charges including trafficking, production and possession of cannabis, as well as one charge each of owning property used to carry out the alleged crimes.

They will appear in the Warwick Magistrates Court on Friday.
