Son charged with Qld mum's murder

The son of missing Gold Coast woman Linda Sidon will face court charged with her murder.

Police arrested the 28-year-old on Wednesday, despite investigators being unable to locate Ms Sidon's body.

Ms Sidon, 46, hasn't been seen since June 2009, with a New Zealand-based family member reporting her missing some 18 months later.

The New Zealand-born woman, who suffered a history of anorexia and depression, was originally believed to have committed suicide.

But police ramped up their investigations earlier this year after new information came to light.

Ms Sidon's son has been charged with homicide and will appear in the Southport Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
