Six charged over 'Irish Boys' betting scam

Six men have been charged with fraud after allegedly duping punters into betting on both sides of sporting contests in a $14 million scam.

The four alleged ringleaders of the syndicate, known as "Irish Boys", will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday, with a further two to face court in September.

The men were arrested this week after authorities raided properties including two so-called "boiler room" call centres on the Gold Coast after receiving information around 150 people across Australia had been scammed.
