Qld shopkeeper stabbed, man charged

A man who allegedly stabbed a shopkeeper in the neck while trying to rob a Gold Coast convenience store has been charged over the attack.

Police say the 27-year-old man, armed with a knife, entered the store at Main Beach around 2.30am on Tuesday and started demanding money.

A scuffle broke out between the pair and the shopkeeper was stabbed in the neck. The attacker ran away empty handed.

The man will face three charges, including attempted armed robbery and wounding, at Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

The shopkeeper was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.
