Storm passes southeast Queensland

Severe thunderstorms predicted to hammer part of southeast Queensland have passed without causing much of the expected damage.

The SES received 16 calls for help across Queensland on Monday night mainly for minor jobs like leaking roofs, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman told AAP.

"It hasn't been too bad," she said.

One tree came down in Ipswich but there weren't any reports of injuries.

Damaging winds and large hailstones were predicted to fall on Ipswich, Amberley, Lake Manchester, Upper Brookfield and Camp Hill as well as Brisbane's CBD and surrounding areas on Monday evening after golf-ball sized hail was reported further west at Stanthorpe in the afternoon.
