A semi-professional Queensland soccer player accused of repeatedly punching a woman in the face has been granted bail.

Nicolas Bechar, a former midfielder for Redlands United in Queensland's National Premier League, was on Sunday charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm over the alleged attack in August last year.

Police will allege the assault occurred when the woman was given a lift to a home at Coorparoo, on Brisbane's southside, and left her requiring eye surgery and a metal plate insert.

Bechar, 27, was granted bail in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday on the condition he make no contact with the woman and two others.

The matter is the second before the courts for the Surfers Paradise man.

He was also charged last year after he allegedly pulled out a replica firearm at the Fortitude Valley's Cloudland nightclub in October.

Both matters are due to return to court later in January.
