Second tourist dies in north Qld waters

A Japanese man has become the second tourist in eight days to die while snorkelling off islands in far north Queensland.

A 67-year-old Japanese national died on Thursday afternoon while snorkelling off Green Island and there are no suspicious circumstances, police say.

The man was believed to be on a day trip to the island with his wife.

The incident follows the death of a 23-year-old Korean tourist who was found floating in waters at Lizard Island off Cooktown on October 12.
