A second earthquake has rumbled Queensland's coast.

Geoscience Australia on Saturday afternoon tweeted preliminary information that a magnitude 5.7 quake occurred off eastern Queensland shortly after 1.30pm, at a depth of about 10km.

It comes two days after a 5.3 magnitude earthquake off the Fraser Coast on Thursday, which was felt by people up to 228km away and was followed by 3.9 and 3.4-magnitude aftershocks.

The Bureau of Meteorology says the quake happened off Fraser Island, and there is no tsunami threat to Australia.

Gold Coast and Brisbane residents have reported feeling tremors.
