He was found in bushland about 12.30pm and airlifted to Mackay Base Hospital for assessment, a police spokeswoman told AAP.

Mr Edwards was with three friends in the Mount Coolon area when their vehicle broke down on Monday morning.

The trio were found safe and well by staff at Yacamundah Station on Tuesday afternoon.

But Mr Edwards was nowhere to be seen and authorities soon launched a massive ground and air search.

Police, SES volunteers and Australian Defence Force members had been focusing around Yacamundah Station.
