Scream scares off would-be robber in Qld

A woman's scream has scared off a would-be armed robber from a convenience store in southeast Queensland.

Police say that at about 4.50pm on Friday a man entered the Collingwood Park store armed with a knife and demanded cash from a male employee.

But the offender fled empty handed after a woman inside the store screamed.

Police said he made his getaway in a stolen car that was spotted by officers at 5.20pm in a nearby shopping centre car park.

Officers tried to intercept the vehicle but it failed to stop until it collided with two other cars on Redbank Plain Road.

Three male teenagers fled from the car but two were caught by police a short time later.

A 53-year-old woman, the driver of one of the vehicles involved in the crash, was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with one count each of attempted armed robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm, common assault, threatening violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to stop and unlicensed driving.

Another 18-year-old has been charged with one count of each of attempted robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.

Both have been remanded in custody to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.
