Scooter rider caught four times over limit

A 63-year-old scooter rider has been charged with high-range drink driving after he allegedly blew more than four times the legal limit.

Police claim the Queensland man fell from his scooter outside an apartment complex on Boat Harbour Drive in Torquay, in the state's Wide Bay region, at 8.10am on Thursday.

Following a roadside breath test, the man was taken to Harvey Bay Police Station where he allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.222 per cent, almost four-and-a-half times the legal limit.

He was charged was driving under the influence of liquor and will front Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on October 18.
