New measures announced to curb attacks on Queensland bus drivers
Millions of dollars will be invested into new safety measures to curb violent attacks on Queensland bus drivers.
Transport minister Mark Bailey announced funding for protective barriers for drivers on high-risk routes across the bus network, as part of a $65 million five-year package.
There will also be a greater police presence on buses with anti-social behaviour.

Twenty-nine new senior network officers will be rolled out across the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Logan.
More senior network officers will be rolled out in other areas on a needs-basis.
Transport Workers Union's Jared Abbott said he welcomed the funding.

"We're very grateful we're going to be getting these secure cabins," Abbott said.
"Especially in Townsville, which is another one of our regions on top of places like Cairns, that have a lot of bus assaults on our drivers.
"The secure full barriers in particular, do a huge amount to prevent the attacks - whether it's being spat on, punched, hair pulling - that's happening to our bus drivers."
