SA man to face Qld court over stabbing

A South Australian man accused of stabbing a young mother is set to face a Queensland court via videolink.

The 35-year-old allegedly attacked the mother, who was holding her baby, at her Kuttabul home, near Mackay, in the early hours of Monday.

It's alleged he stabbed her partner first in the backyard before entering the house and stabbing the 21-year-old woman twice in her chest, causing her to drop her baby.

Police say he then flew back to Adelaide, where he was arrested on Monday afternoon and extradited on Friday.

He is due to face the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with attempted murder, entering a dwelling with intent, acts intended to disable and assault.
