Row over pet dogs may have sparked Brisbane murder-suicide

The heinous murder of a young Indonesian wife by her Australian husband in Brisbane may have been sparked by a domestic row about cleaning up the mess from their pet dogs.

Neighbours reportedly overheard shouting from the apartment of Marcus Volke and Mayang Prasetyo, where the couple had up to five pug and French bulldog pups, News Corp reports.

Ms Prasetyo had an interest in dog breeding and kept a Facebook page devoted to French bulldogs.

Police are also investigating if Ms Prasetyo, a transgender sex worker, had planned to meet with a client hours before her death and if this also contributed to the fatal argument.

Volke, also a sex worker, dismembered his 27-year-old wife's body and boiled some of her body parts on the night of October 4.

He called an electrician to fix a power outage but the electrician became suspicious and called police.

Volke fled when police turned up to do a "welfare check" and hid inside an industrial bin where he died from self-inflicted wounds.
