Ravenshoe to mark explosion anniversary

One year after the deadly Ravenshoe explosion, those impacted by the horrific tragedy will gather to thank those who have supported them.

Two people were killed and 19 injured on June 9 last year when an out-of-control ute ran into the back of the Serves You Right Cafe in the small north Queensland town, causing a huge gas explosion.

The blast triggered the largest aeromedical retrieval of burns victims in the state's history.

On Thursday, the community will mark the one-year anniversary of the disaster by gathering to reflect on the tragedy and thank those who have supported victims and the wider community.

A "One Year On - Thank You" event is being held at the Ravenshoe Festival Hall from 5.30pm.
