Plea for stolen puppies to be returned to Queensland animal shelter

A search is under way for two puppies stolen from an animal refuge in Queensland.
Goose and Kryptos, both Staffordshire bull terrier puppies, were taken from the Warra Animal Rehoming Centre in Brisbane’s north late on Tuesday night.

Queensland Police said unknown offenders gained entry to the facility on Telegraph Road in Fitzgibbon around 11.40pm.
They took the puppies and fled the scene.
Warra Animal Rehoming Centre, which is run by the Animal Welfare League Queensland, was closed on Wednesday.
Staffordshire bull terriers can sell for between $2000 and $5000 from a registered breeder, according to pet cost calculator PawCost.
They cost much less when adopted from an animal shelter or rescue; usually between $200 and $450.
The breed has also been associated with illegal dog fighting, as they were originally bred for bull and bear baiting and can be aggressive.
Police are now appealing to the public for any information that could help locate Goose and Kryptos, or the people who stole them.

Another dog was stolen in Victoria in March.
Police were called in after three women stole a 10-month-old cavoodle puppy named Dora from outside a Melbourne shopping plaza on March 9.
Kryptos is also missing and police are calling for any information to secure his safe return. Queensland Police
“Dora was not allowed inside the shopping centre, so I tied her up outside the mall for only about 15 minutes or so,” owner Frank Wong said at the time.
“It was utterly awful. We thought we lived in a safe and friendly neighbourhood so to see such an act is very awful.”
Fortunately, Dora was reunited with her owners 48 hours after she was taken.
