A police Constable from Queensland’s northern region has been suspended over allegations he threatened and assaulted a juvenile, and turned off his body camera.

The 40-year-old male officer was stood down with full pay over claims of unlawful assault, using inappropriate and threatening language and turning off the camera during the interaction.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct,” Queensland Police said in a statement.

“This does not mean that the allegations against the officer have been substantiated.”

Queensland Police were unable to provide a date for the accusations, but said the matter was now the subject of an internal investigation which could take anywhere from a week to several months.
