Tributes flow for kids killed in crash south of Ipswich
A single bunch of flowers and a broken fence is all that marks the scene of a car accident that claimed the lives of two young children yesterday.
Mia Spinks, four, and her older brother Daniel, six, were killed when the car they were travelling in left the road and hit a tree at Peak Crossing south of Ipswich just before 3pm yesterday.
The children's mother, Shalyne, was driving the car and is clinging to life in hospital.

Shalyne’s eight-year-old niece Judith was also in the car and is recovering.
Local woman Renee Eaton came upon the scene seconds after the crash. She found Judith in the wreckage and stayed with her until paramedics arrived.
“It will be something to stay with me for the rest of my life,” Ms Eaton said.
“She [Judith] was very frightened but very brave.
“She was worried sick about everyone else but herself.”

It’s believed the driver may have been speeding away from a police patrol conducting routine licence checks.
Investigations continue into what role police played in the crash.
The two officers involved were too traumatised to take Ethical Standards Command officers back to the crash scene last night but 9News understands their body worn cameras have been seized.

Social media has been flooded with words of comfort and support.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk also offered her condolences.
“It’s an absolute tragedy, especially when young children are involved,” she said.
The children’s classmates have also been offered counselling.
