Police search for man who could be connected to fatal Queensland house fire

Police are searching for a man believed to be connected to a Queensland shed fire which killed a 50-year-old man last month.

The fire broke out at a donga-style Pacific Haven home, on Queensland's Fraser Coast around 1.35 am on February 18.

When emergency services arrived they located the body of resident Damian Ramsay inside.

Police confirmed a number of power tools were also reported stolen from a nearby shed on a different property between 2pm and the time of the fire.

Investigators are working to determine if the two incidents are related.

"Detectives are seeking information from the public regarding the theft of these tools in order to determine whether it is related to the fire, which has not yet been confirmed," a police statement read.

Police said they are searching for a suspect seen walking along Steley Street in the nearby town of Howard at 11.50pm on February 17.

CCTV footage depicts the man exiting a vehicle and walking across the street.

"Detectives are appealing for the man and the occupants of the vehicle he seen exiting on Steley Street to come forward, as well as anyone else with further information that may assist," police said.

"It is believed the man may be able to provide information which can assist in clarifying the circumstances leading up to the theft of the tools and fire."

Members of the public able to identify the man or who have information regarding both the fire and theft of the tools are urged to come forward to police.
