A Queensland mum has defended her home and family from intruders in a split-second stroke of genius.

Three men armed with a baton, knife and taser startled the family as they entered the home at about 9.45pm on Tuesday.

Tiffany Kendon was in her room on the phone to police when the men started threatening her and her partner.

"He took one step towards my bedroom and I was just like, 'No ... I do not appreciate that, I've got two children in here and you need to get the f--- out of my house'," she said.

The mum grabbed insect spray and aimed it at the intruders, while one of them activated the taser.

The reaction turned her fly spray into a flame thrower, which resulted in "about one and a half metres of flames" and scared the men off.

"I didn't even know there were two other guys until I was told later, I just flamed them," Kendon said.

The men, who are not known to the family, are still on the run.

Police are investigating whether the break-in is linked to a crash that happened on the same street on Monday.
