A musician was allegedly assaulted outside a Gold Coast highway bar for declining to play a requested song.

Queensland Police have released CCTV footage of two men they believe are involved in the alleged attack.

The video shows the 35-year-old musician walking out of the bar in Nobby Beach at around 10.45 pm to take his break outside before being approached by the two men.

Police say they started yelling at the musician that he should have played the song Wonderwall by Oasis, which they had requested.

Then one of the men headbutted the artist, and the other punched him in the face, resulting in bruising and swelling to his left eye, police said.

Police are urging anyone with information about the attack to come forward.
