Qld woman in court over cyclist murder

A woman accused of murdering a cyclist almost six years after his body was found on a major highway west of Brisbane has faced court.

Joanne Marie McCauley, 46, was charged on Wednesday with murdering Shui Ki Chan, 25.

The Chinese tourist's body was found on the side of the Warrego Highway, adjacent to the University of Queensland's Gatton campus, on August 23, 2012.

Police allege he was struck by a vehicle the previous evening after completing a shift at a nearby McDonald's.

Findings released in November last year from a coronial inquest recommended "urgent attention be given to the decision" of whether McCauley be charged with Mr Chan's murder.

The matter was mentioned in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Thursday.

McCauley has been remanded in custody and the case adjourned until September 6.
