Qld woman critically injured in house fire

An 77-year-old woman is fighting for life in Queensland after a fire destroyed her home.

The woman was using methylated spirits to light a heater in her Chinchilla home when the liquid caught fire and spread to her body in the early hours of Wednesday morning, police say.

A 79-year-old man was injured while attempting to put out the fire, but it is understood his injuries are not life threatening..

The pair were treated at Chinchilla Health Services and are due to be airlifted to Brisbane for further treatment.

Police are continuing to investigate the scene.
