Qld war veterans honoured by French

Queensland veterans who fought in World War II will receive France's highest honour for their service more than 70 years ago.
French Ambassador to Australia, Christophe Lecourtier, will award the Legion d'Honneur to 13 Queenslanders who fought in Europe between 1939 and 1945.
The medal is France's highest decoration, bestowed on people who have demonstrated distinguished service to their country.

It was first established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802.
About 300 Australians requested they be considered to receive the medal.
The 11 Queenslanders will receive the award at the Royal Australian Air Force Base at Amberley, west of Brisbane, on Thursday afternoon.
