Three far north Queensland tribes are set to be handed native title rights over their traditional lands.

The Atampaya, Gudang Yadhaykenu and Seven Rivers Angkamuthi Peoples' native title claim covers about 685,000 hectares of land on northern Cape York, the Cape York Land Council says.

The council says the claim was lodged in July 2011, making it one of the quickest determination's since native title was enacted.

The ruling will be formally recognised at a ceremony in the indigenous community of Injinoo, on the tip of Cape York, on Thursday.
