Qld toddler found face down in pool

A two-year-old boy has narrowly avoided drowning after being found face down in a backyard swimming pool north of Brisbane.

The toddler spent a minute underwater after falling into the pool at a Burpengary home on Tuesday morning.

He was initially unresponsive when plucked from the water, but was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived, a Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said.

He has been taken to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in a stable condition.
