A Brisbane teen injured on a high ropes course at a school camp suffered a collapsed lung.

Connor Petterson, 14, had to be airlifted to hospital following the accident at the Marist College Ashgrove Year 9 camp at Stanmore, north of Brisbane, last week.

Connor suffered the injury after he became entangled on the ropes course.

On Monday, the school announced Connor was being moved out of intensive care.

"He is being weaned off his medication and is slowly recovering from a collapsed lung and is progressing well," the school said in a statement.

"The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the entire Marist community for their overwhelming messages of support and ask that we continue our prayers for all people in ICU's."

The school cancelled the Year 9 camp following the accident.

The company behind the camp has said it will investigate the circumstances behind the accident.
