Qld teacher's aide on child porn charges

A Brisbane teacher's aide arrested on child pornography offences has walked free from court on conditional bail.

The 40-year-old, employed by Education Queensland from 2007, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with making and possessing child exploitation material and indecently treating a child under 16.

He did not enter a plea on Thursday during his first appearance in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, where duty lawyer Fiona Lane said the defendant had lost his job.

"He's spending his days caring for his mother who's quite unwell with emphysema and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease)," she said.

Magistrate Noel Nunan granted the man bail on the condition he have no contact with two male students from a south Brisbane high school.

"I'd keep away from teenage boys if I were you," he warned.

The man covered his face with a blue jumper as he left the watch house carrying a bag with belongings, including a book titled The World's Most Evil Psychopaths.

He will reappear in court on August 10.
