Qld stadium gets $4m in federal funding

A sports stadium in southeast Queensland has been gifted $4 million in federal funding for a major upgrade.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott says the project at Redcliffe oval will create 200 construction jobs and 150 ongoing positions.

"It will be an important hub for sport and for everything that goes with sport in our country," Mr Abbott said at the Redcliffe Dolphins Rugby Leagues Club Family Day.

The local council and the club have each committed $3 million to the project.
