A Gold Coast man will stay in jail after allegedly stabbing another man and leaving a knife still embedded in his stomach.

Ambulance officers and police were called to a Currumbin Waters address just before midnight on Friday, discovering the injured man with the weapon sticking out of his body.

The 30-year-old was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Bradley McDonald, 24, has been charged with one count of wounding and did not appear when his matter was mentioned at Southport Magistrates Court on Friday.

No application for bail has been made and McDonald has been remanded in custody until his next court appearance on March 22.
