Qld's Mithaka people in native title win

An indigenous group has been awarded native title over more than 50,000 square kilometres of land in southwest Queensland.

A Federal Court ruling has granted southwest Queensland's Mithaka people rights to 55,425 square kilometres of land and water near Windorah.

Queensland Natural Resources Minister Anthony Lynham said Tuesday's determination protected the Mithaka people's rights to access their lands to hunt, fish, teach and conduct ceremonies.
