Qld RSL member arrested for false claims

A Queensland man who held a position with an RSL club has been charged with faking his military history.

The 51-year-old from Bauple, in the Fraser Coast region, allegedly claimed to have fought in overseas war campaigns without being able to provide proof.

A complaint was made to police earlier this year, with detectives charging him in Maryborough on Tuesday with one count each of falsely representing to be a returned soldier and improper use of service decorations.

He will face the Maryborough Magistrates Court on December 17.
