Qld reveals full anti-gang law changes

KEY ELEMENTS OF QUEENSLAND'S NEW ANTI-GANG LEGISLATION:

* A total ban on the wearing of bikie club colours in all public places.

* An increase to the maximum penalty for drug trafficking from 20 to 25 years in jail.

* An increase to the maximum penalty for child exploitation offences from 14 to 20 years in jail.

* New offences targeting people who administer child porn websites, encourage their use or give advice on how to avoid detection.

* A NSW-style consorting offence banning people with convictions for serious indictable offences from consorting (following a warning).

* A new serious organised crime circumstance of aggravation that will carry a mandatory term of imprisonment of seven extra years.

* Post-conviction control orders enabling the court to set any conditions necessary upon people who have been convicted of the aggravated circumstance offences.

* A public safety order scheme consisting of three elements: one to empower police to issue safety orders for seven days; another to keep clubhouses closed; and a third calling on the owners of premises frequented by gang members to remove "fortifications" that block entrances.
