A Queensland prisoner has been charged with a string of offences for allegedly trafficking ice on the Gold Coast two years ago.

The Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC), who charged the 21-year-old prisoner at Woodford Correctional Facility with 17 offences on Thursday, says he was part of a criminal syndicate that trafficked methylamphetamine between Sydney and the Gold Coast.

The man supplied ice across the Gold Coast in 2014 and also made the drug in a clandestine lab at a Currumbin house around the same time, the crime watchdog says.

"A range of operational matters precluded the CCC from charging the man for these offences prior to today," the CCC said in a statement on Thursday.

The man, who will face charges including trafficking and producing dangerous drugs, is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 4.
