Qld premier warns department heads

Two Queensland government department chiefs have been axed and others could go if they don't believe they can implement Labor's election commitments.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has issued the warning while noting that acting director-general of premier and cabinet Kevin Yearbury has met with all departmental directors-general.

He's told them they need to be 100 per cent committed to seeing out Labor's election commitments.

Ms Palaszczuk says they were also told of they would need to reapply for their jobs under Labor's new merit-based system of appointments.

It's understood health director-general Ian Maynard was sent packing on Wednesday and the chief of the department of premier and cabinet Jon Grayson was replaced earlier this month.

Ms Palaszczuk says any other directors-general who don't think they can implement Labor's plans so should now reconsider their positions.

"No, I went to the election with a very clear plan and very clear policy objectives, and I expect them to be implemented," she said.

"Queenslanders do not want the broken promises that they saw in the last term in office."
