Queensland's premier has paid tribute to the Queen on her 90th birthday, saying she hopes she visits the state for the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.
Annastacia Palaszczuk says the monarch had been part of the state's most significant historical moments, including the 1982 Games in Brisbane, Expo `88 and her visit in 2011 following the state's deadly floods.
"What an honour it would be for Her Majesty to open our next Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in 2018," Ms Palaszczuk told parliament on Thursday.
