Qld premier to make tourism announcement

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has flagged a major tourism announcement for the Gold Coast.

Ms Palaszczuk and her ministers on Sunday held a public forum as part of a Gold Coast community cabinet, allowing residents to directly ask questions of her and her team.

The cabinet will remain on the Gold Coast on Monday, when Ms Palaszczuk says she will make the announcement.

"Tomorrow we will be making a very significant tourism announcement down here on the Gold Coast," Ms Palaszczuk said on Sunday.

"This follows on from my trade mission to Hong Kong, where I was able to speak with investors, talking about the opportunities here in Queensland.

"And what that will mean is more jobs here for tourism on the Gold Coast."

Ms Palaszczuk was quizzed at the public forum on Sunday about a range of issues, including Gold Coast light rail, environmental issues and disability funding.

But most of the 200-strong crowd attended to voice concerns about a major development that would see two 44-storey buildings built on the Broadwater.

Ms Palaszczuk promised to meet with residents about their concerns, but was booed after suggesting it was a local council issue.
